Modena-style Amarene Brusche cherry jam is awarded PGI status.
The first recipes describing how to make cherry jam in the Modena area date back to the second half of the 19th century: today these recipes have earned Modena-style Amarene Brusche cherry jam European PGI (Protected Geographic Indication) status.
Ideal for jam tarts, thanks to its intense flavour which blends perfectly with the sweet taste of shortcrust pastry, Modena-style Amarene Brusche cherry jam is made following the traditional recipe to the letter and is the first in Europe to be awarded this sought-after status, confirming its close link with its land of origin.
Conserve della Nonna picks the cherries when they are perfectly ripe and processes them using the traditional method of concentrating the jam by evaporation through heating, adding only sucrose: this helps preserve the intense flavour of the ripe fruit and the typical consistency of homemade jam.
Delicious at breakfast time, Modena-style Amarene Brusche cherry jam is also the ideal ingredient for homemade desserts: the chefs at Conserve della Nonna recommend it with fresh ricotta in a mouth-watering version of the traditional jam tart, which even the youngest children love.
